RACISM IS A VIRUS (2024)

The assignment theme is titled Love & Violence. We explore the fine line between what love and what violence means to us. What do we think as love? What about violence? What actions do we evoke from them? From our point of view, love is necessary in the world; but to what extent is love not violent?

Our team is formed by four individuals who come from a mix between two different cultures -European and Asian-. We balance our lifestyles being raised in a white-dominant country with the physical aspects of Asian ethnicities. Living in Spain with visible Asian features led us to struggle with racism and ignorance from a young age. By putting in common our experiences and our search for our own identity between two different cultures, we evidence the racism that is still existing in our daily lives.

Towards the strive for change, we developed a functional weapon that questions the present environment we live in filled with frequent racist attitudes.

This conceptual-functional weapon consists of a giant vaccine that disinfects the verbally-aggressive racist person. It contains alcoholic gel to be able to shoot it with pressure towards the aggressor and drench them with it.

In parallel, we created a visual campaign and documenting all the information in a Manifesto.
